 TEXAS HOMESCHOOL LAWS

In 1994 the Texas Supreme Court upheld decisions made by the lower courts that home schools, by law, are considered private schools.   Home schooling, support by Texas Legislature House Bill 944, is a valid program for obtaining a high school diploma. The difference between home schooling and a traditional school is that school work can be done from anywhere you want. No attendance nor state exams required.

General Educational Services of Texas, LLC operates a high school diploma program
,home school recognized in Texas.  Texas law recognizes high school diplomas awarded by home schools and allows recipients of home school
diplomas to attend any community college or university located in Texas.

HOUSE BILL 944(King/Estes)
Persons with nontraditional secondary education. Prohibits a public institution of higher education from having different admissions requirements for students who have completed a nontraditional secondary education.

An institution may not require these students to obtain or submit a GED certificate or an equivalency to a public high school diploma and may not require these students to take an examination or comply with any other application or admission requirement that is not applicable to other applicants.
